Fantastic 8" x 10" news service photo of the Yankee Clipper, Joe DiMaggio in 1941. According to newspaper clipping affixed to verso this composite image was created as DiMaggio was but two hits shy of tying George Sisler's AL mark of 41 consecutive games with a base hit. DiMaggio would, of course, obliterate that record, setting the new major league pace at 56 straight games. 8" x 10" photo exhibits minor flaws inherent to press photos of the day, including: abrasion to corners, light creasing, and some waviness to the print at the bottom edge. Some interesting artistic embeleshments have been applied to the great slugger's flip-down sunglasses, and a date stamp of "June 28, 1941" has been applied to the newspaper clipping on reverse. Authenticated and encapsulated as a Type III photo by PSA/DNA.
