Outstanding Old Judge card featuring King Kelly, one of the most popular players of his era, in one of the less frequently-seen of his 11 poses in the issue. Kelly is pictured in the uniform of the Boston Beaneaters, where he would play for three seasons after starring in Chicago. The image is extremely strong and well-defined, the wear kept to a minimum for a card of this vintage, resulting in an exceptional grade of VG/EX 4. An early example from 1887, Kelly is identified here as "$10,000 Kelly," a reference to his sale to Boston for the then-astronomical price. A gorgeous and highly prized card.
