Attractive pair of cabinet photos related to Yale baseball.  Collection includes: 1) 1877 team photo cabinet. Measuring approximately 6 1/2" x 4 1/2", the photo is clean, with a strong image, some pencil notations naming eight players in the top margin as well as at the bottom of the photo (Bill Downen, Bigelow, Clark ,Wheaton, Floyd, Brown, EC Smith, and Carter). Photo studio is identified as Abraham DeSilva of New Haven, reverse has multiple stamps from the Brown Brothers Photo Archive, as well as some handwritten notations. The cabinet is in FAIR-POOR condition, due largely to pinholes at all four corners, but the image is sharp and carries strong eye appeal. 1877 was the first season that Jim Tyng wore a catcher's mask in a game for Harvard, in a June game against Yale. 2) Photo of the entrance to Hamilton Park, used for Yale Football, baseball, and horse racing, as well as some early Major League Baseball games. Photo measures approximately 6 1/4" x 4 1/4", appears in EX condition save for some pencil notations on the reverse. Two photos total.
