Exceptional multi-signed baseball featuring 26 players members of the 1934 Tour of Japan (including all the key members of the tour) as well as additional players that enable us to date the baseball. The Goldmith "Official League" ball has been extremely well-preserved, with some age-related fading and toning slightly marring the ball, but with each of the signatures remaining legible. Signatures on the baseball include Babe Ruth (sweet spot), Lou Gehrig (HOF), Doc Ebbing, Frankie Hayes, Lefty Gomez (HOF), Clint Brown, Moe Berg, Eric McNair, Earl Averill (HOF), Joe Cascarella, Jimmie Foxx (HOF), Earl Whitehill, Charles Gehringer (HOF), Connie Mack (HOF), Rabbit Warstler, and Bing Miller. Some handwritten notations on the ball as well as some unfamiliar names enable us to date the ball to October 25 1934. On that day, the American All-Star team stopped in Hawaii on its way to Japan and played an exhibition game at Honolulu Stadium against a Hawaiian All-Star team. In the game, which the American team won 8-1, Lou Gehrig hit a home run. Names that appear on the baseball that appear in the boxscore for the Hawaiian team that day include Charlie Thrift, Lefty Chow, Hans Pung, Bill Chai, Mamiya (shortstop), Rapa Rodrigues, Johnnie Kerr, Sally Akita (on the sweet spot underneath Ruth) as well as a few other unidentified. The game was of course quite an event in Honolulu and the first Hawaiian visit by most of the touring team. This is a truly incredible baseball containing signatures not only from the 15 members of the Japan tour team but also from the members of the Hawaiian All-Star team. It is likely the only ball of its kind in existence. In outstanding condition a tremendous piece of baseball history. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
