Clean, sharp example of Hall of Fame Cubs outfielder Kiki Cuyler from the scarce DeLong Gum set. Its PSA EX 5 grade reflects touched corners and modest toning on the reverse. This places it in the top 20% of graded examples, so it will be tough to improve upon!
Harold DeLong left Goudey Gum around 1932 and founded his own local gum company that released this underrated set of 24 cards in 1933. It broke new ground by using local sportswriter Austen Lake as their named baseball expert for card backs and placing tinted black-and-white photos inside a colorful stadium on the front. Many of these same ideas would reappear in sets made by other companies throughout the 1930s.
