In our Winter, 2016 auction, we offered what remains one of the most incredible pieces we have ever handled: the original 1930 Boston Post Old-Timer's Game poster, created and signed by nearly 50 stars, Hall of Famers, and Boston Sports dignitaries and delivered to former catcher Lou Criger, who was dealing with health issues and unable to obtain the game. The enormous piece contained large, clear signatures from the lines of Chief Bender, Fred Clarke, Ty Cobb, Jimmy Collins, Johnny Evers, Harry Hooper,  "Nuf Red" McGreevey, Bill McKechnie, Edd Roush, Tris Speaker,  Honus Wagner, Ed Walsh, Smoky Joe Wood, Cy Young, and many more. The September 8, 1930 game was really the first "old timer's game," and the Criger piece wound up being so cool that reproductions were made and given to each player (a fact we did not know until an example emerged as part of Roger Bresnahan's estate when it came to auction a few years ago as part of a large hoard of documents).

Presented here is one of those original reproductions, framed to a finished size of 17 1/4" x 21 1/4". Interestingly, some of the personal notes written in the margin of the original piece have been omitted from the reproduction, perhaps because they were irrelevant to the players bringing the piece home as a souvenir.  This example has been stored rolled at some point, and is heavily creased as a result, with several edge tears and some water staining near the bottom third. Despite the condition issues, the display value is exceptional, an outstanding piece which was given to players that participated in this old timer's game. We are also including a modern print of the panoramic photo that was presented to participants, as a companion to this seldom-seen item.
