Outstanding c.1930's Type I photo of Babe Ruth following through on his iconic swing at League Park in Cleveland. Ruth has just connected with a pitch, his eyes tracking the ball while his Louisville Slugger familiarly points skyward. League Park was famously the location of the Bambino's 500th career home, blasted on August 11, 1929 against Indians starter, Willis Hudlin. Ruth's blast made him the very first player in major league history to achieve the milestone, not to be equaled until Jimmie Foxx launched his 500th in September of 1940. Beautiful original photograph provides a great look at the Babe in sharp focus, his away flannels nicely defined by the dark background which has been intentionally left slightly blurred. A horizontal streak is visible below the Babe's hands but this appears to be on the holder itself and not on the photographic print. Two areas of streaking appear along the right edge and these appear to be embedded in the image, perhaps occurring as part of the developing process. Very clean example overall with just a small crease in the upper-left corner. Credit stamping from Wide World has been applied to verso with a small pencil notation at the top edge. The only example of this photo we're aware of in the hobby, offered here for the very first time. Authenticated and encapsulated as a Type I photo by PSA/DNA.
