Outstanding 1929 Type IV composite photo featuring portrait images of the 1913 Philadelphia Athletics, champions of the American League. This charming composite was crafted by International News, likely for publication as the Athletics headed into the 1913 World Series against the New York Giants, who they would best over five games. According to the included paper caption, this gelatin silver print was developed to present "...Connie Mack's last crackerjack team..." as Connie Mack's then-current 1929 Athletics inched towards a World Series matchup against the National League's Chicago Cubs. Five future Hall of Famers are present in the image, including: Frank Baker, Chief Bender, Eddie Collins, Connie Mack, and Eddie Plank. Some degree of toning is present to top and bottom edges, with large credit stamping from International applied to verso. Original paper caption dated to 8/14/1929 is included but has separated from the photo. A fresh to the hobby example from the Durham Find of Historic Baseball Photography. Authenticated as a Type IV photo by PSA/DNA and their full LOA is provided.
