Mickey Mantle slides aggresively into Pee Wee Reese in this fantastic image from Game 1 of the 1952 World Series. Mantle had reached safely following a bunt that moved Yankees shortstop Phil Rizzuto to second base. Yogi Berra then grounded to first, initiating a double play the Mick attempted to disrupt as the offered 7" x 9" photo was captured by an Associated Press photographer. Overall presentation remains exceptional with some graininess to the image due to the speed of the film used, enlargment of a small portion of the original negative, or a combination of those factors. Fresh to the hobby photo with some visible wear to the upper-right corner remaining the only blemish worthy of mention. Credit stamping from the Associated Press has been applied to verso, with a detailed paper caption dated to 10/01/52 still affixed along the bottom edge. Authenticated by PSA/DNA as a Type I photo and includes their full LOA.
