Despite the fact that half of the six N172 cards featuring picture him batting, Bobby Gilks was a pitcher in addition to being a utility player, and is described as such on all six cards. He spent two seasons with the Cleveland Blues of the American Association and two more with the Cleveland Spiders of the National League (where he played with Cy Young), wrapping up his major league career with a cup of coffee on the 1893 Baltimore Orioles.  Despite being an attractive card, the FR 1.5 grade reflects some chipping and wear in the photographic emulsion, as well as a heavy corner crease at the bottom right.
