Considered the greatest defensive outfielder of his time, Joe Hornung had a habit of calling out "ubbo ubbo" whenever he made a good play in the field.  As a result, "Ubbo Ubbo" became his nickname, one of the more odd and somehow compelling of the baseball nicknames.  Ubbo Ubbo played 12 major league seasons, most in Boston, batting .257 lifetime. His finest offensive season was probably 1883, when he batted .278 with 8 home runs and 66 RBI.  By 1887, when this card was issued, the outfielder had reached 30 years old, and was nearing the end of his major league career.  The card has received a grade of GOOD 2, largely due to some surface abrasions visible on the front, and staining on the reverse.
