From the recent Durham Find of Historic Baseball Photography comes this tremendous collection of news service photos documenting World Series encounters between the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Yankees from 1952-56. 68 total photos are included, each retaining it's original highly detailed paper caption, or captioning applied directly to verso, making for an immersive dive into baseball's most storied rivalry. Majority of included examples appear to be original and of the era, landing them as Type I under PSA's system of authentication. Collection also includes several composite photos, featuring multiple images, or diagrams illustrating important plays, that PSA would consider to be Type III (of the era but developed from a copy negative). Significantly, many Hall of Famers are represented within this grouping, including: Yogi Berra, Roy Campanella, Gil Hodges, Mickey Mantle, Pee Wee Reese, Phil Rizzuto, Jackie Robinson, Duke Snider, Casey Stengel, and Whitey Ford. Condition across the collection remains highly impressive throughout with most examples boasting clean and bright surfaces with hardly a sign of wear. Each photo includes credit stamping from either the Associated Press, the New York Times, or both on verso. A breakdown of photos included by year is as follows: 1952 World Series (24 photos): 11 appear to be original, 13 composites; 1953 World Series (19 photos): 18 appear to be original, 1 composite; 1955 World Series (16 photos): 13 appear to be original, 3 composites; 1956 World Series (10 photos): 7 appear to be original, 3 composites. A fantastic collection of World Series-related news service photos from the 1950's featuring two of baseball's most celebrated franchises. 68 photos total.
