Long-time teammates, Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth shake hands as rivals for the first time in this Type I photo from Wide World. Meeting for the first time in uniform since the Bambino transitioned from the New York Yankees to the Boston Braves, the moment was not lost on newspaper photographers prior to a spring contest between the two teams in St. Petersburg, FL. Terrific image of the all-time-great pair is only marred by what appears to be a bright reflection encroaching from the left edge, possibly due to premature exposure of the negative to a light source, or other anomaly, perhaps occurring as the image was developed. 7" x 9" photo is fresh to the hobby and remains clean throughout, with streaking to the emulsion visible but only when the photo is angled.
