Jim Landis starred in centerfield for the White Sox for almost a decade, so one wonders why Topps waited until the 7th series to put him on this card. His best work came in 1959 and 1961, but it took until 1962 for All-Star recognition, perhaps as make-up for those previous years. Many excellent outfielders of that era failed to break through All-Star lineups filled with competition like Mantle, Maris, Yaz, and other future Hall of Famers.
