Don Buddin garnered an unusual fan following in Boston, thanks to his somewhat erratic play. Think of any player sold to fans as their long-term answer to a challenging position, who then underdelivers on those expectations just a bit more each season, and you will understand that relationship. At least this Buddin card shows him facing the Yankees, who he hit struck deep in 1959 with a hometown, walk-off grand slam.
