Large-format poster picturing retired Hall of Famers Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb playing golf, Ruth just having uncorked a mammoth drive. The caption refers to Ruth's golf swing resembling his baseball swing, and it clearly does. With a 1939 copyright, a date of July 1, 1941 has been written at the top of the piece. The two players golf in front of a USO banner with an image of President Roosevelt. Measuring 11" x 10 3/4", the piece has been trimmed from a larger piece that was foldeldinto sixths and mailable. The address of a clothing store and Timely Events return stamp appear on the reverse, further evidence of the trimming. Despite this makeover, the piece is an interesting war-era display item featuring two of the game's early heroes, easily neatened up and suitable for display.
