Rare Type I photo of future Hall of Fame brothers, Lloyd and Paul Waner with their cousin, Travea. While the careers of the Waner brothers are of course well documented, Travea's time as an aspiring major leaguer is far less well known. Travea never did appear in the major leagues but was in camp with the 1928 Pittsburgh Pirates at the time this photo was taken in Paso Robles, CA prior to the season. Travea, far left in the image, was only 19 at the time and had never appeared in a professional baseball game of any kind. He later lasted two seasons in the minors, featuring for three different teams between both the Western League and Mississippi Valley League across 1929 and 1930. Approx. 7" x 9.5" borderless photo has been trimmed around all four sides, exhibiting pleasingly sharp edges and corners throughout. Credit stamping from Wide World has been applied at center of verso with additional stamping from the Central Press Association toward the right edge. Full paper caption remains affixed, displaying a date of 3/5/1928 at the bottom. Authenticated as a Type I photo by PSA/DNA and includes their full LOA.
