Edward "Cannonball" Morris started 63 games for Allegheny City (aka Pittsburg, without the H) in 1885. He went 39-24, completing all 63 games he started, and threw a league-leading 7 shutouts while also leading the league with 298 strikeouts. The next year, he won a league-leading 41 games, while also completing all 63 of his starts, throwing 12 shutouts and striking out 326. His only other appearance that year was in relief, and he picked up the save.

Morris has six poses in the N172 set. This one depicts the Pittsburg southpaw with a ball in his left hand which is head high, while his right hand hovers over his right thigh.

Centering is nice, with just some slight diamond cutting. Great printing with wonderful contrast. Rounded corners with edge chipping around. Some paper loss on the back which indicates removal from a scrapbook or photo album at one point, but does not affect the card's front.
