Hiram C. "Buck" Ebright played 16 games for the 1889 Washington Nationals of the National League. He spent 9 games as their Catcher, 4 games in Right Field, and 3 games as their Shortstop, displaying great versatility. Since his time with the club was so short-lived, Ebright is featured on just three poses in
the N172 set.
The left edge of the card was cut at an angle, which is not terribly uncommon among cards in this set to have angled cuts. It is fairly pronounced here, though. Luckily, nothing of interest within the card's image, and no text at the bottom of the card, was sacrificed by the cut. Ebright stands with his hands on his thighs, facing the camera and looking directly down the barrel. Notice that each of his hands has a glove on it, though his throwing hand (his right) is smaller and would still allow him to throw a ball with accuracy.
Some staining appears on the back of the card, and toward the bottom of the front, as well as some light paper loss toward the bottom of the front. . This is the only example of this card that SGC has ever graded.
