Jim Devlin (correctly spelled Delvin on the card) pitched in 20 games for the St. Louis Browns of the American Association between 1888 and 1889. He went 11-8 with a 2.87 ERA, completing 15 of the 19 games he started for the Browns. Devlin has five different poses in the N172 set. This is the only example of this pose to have been graded by PSA.

When you hear people say "buy the card, not the grade," this is the type of card to which they refer. The front of this card is beautiful, from the gorgeous contrast of the lights and darks, to the centering, to the composition of the image and the balance of the ball in the dead space perfectly waist high. However, there are heavy pencil marks and staining on the back of the card, which is the reason for the (MK) qualifier and the lower grade. Neither of those defects affect the front of the card, which has tremendous eye appeal, despite some chipping at the top left and bottom right corners.
