One of the more interesting issues of the era, the Batter-Up set was a 192-card set produced by the National Chicle company. The blank-backed photographic cards were die cut, allowing young collectors to fold the top of the card down so that it could stand up on its own, revealing only the figure of the player portrayed on the card. The set was issued in two series, with the high-numbered cards measuring about a quarter-inch shorter than the first series. The cards were also issued in black and white or a variety of color tints, and the set is loaded with Hall of Famers. Due to the die cuts and the way the cards were meant to be used, they are difficult to find in high grade.

Offered here is a tremendous example featuring Stan Hack perfectly balanced at the conclusion of his swing. Corners are extremely nice, with some light edge wear particularly noticeable along the top. While there are some faint surface abrasions on the front and some light soiling on the reverse, the die-cut has not been punched, leaving the whole card in tact and in great condition. An absolutely beautiful card regardless of the grade, this one happens to also have a very nice grade.

PSA has only ever graded 28 total examples of this 1934 Batter-Up, with only TWO receiving a higher grade than the NM+ 7.5 offered here of Stan Hack.
