Gorgeous heavy cardboard box measuring 11" x 8" x 4" and once housing Close's Butterscotch Balls.  The two-piece box includes beautiful graphics including red, blue and yellow tartan background, with the product name and illustration of the individually wrapped hard candies and Close's Candy logo all featured on both pieces of the box.  While the box is constructed of durable cardboard and appears very strong with no signs of any restoration, there are areas of wear.  One end of the bottom section of the box has creased heavily, and the box lid displays numerous tears at the edges, along with a larger tear along the top of the lid.  Pencil writing on the box top implies that, in addition to housing butterscotch candy, it also served to house someone's Christmas decorations.  Of particular interest to collectors due to its association with the company that produced the E94 George Close Candy Company set of 1911.
