Wally Andrews played for the Memphis Browns of the Southern League from 1886-1888, then switched over to play for the Omaha Omahogs (aka the Lambs) of the Western Association in 1889 and 1890, the final two seasons of his career. He has five different poses in the N172
set, each of them tough to find. This entry depicts the First Baseman ready to catch a ball, with both of his hands by his right shoulder.
The clarity and contrast of the image are both incredible. Andrews is fully visible, with the details of his face, uniform, and pose fully visible. The text at the bottom of the card is also wonderfully dark and clear, giving this card tremendous eye appeal. The scribbles in the top right of the background and centered below Andrews' feet on the front of the card are supposed to be printed on the card, so the (MK) qualifier is actually due to a few letters written on the back side. You will be hard pressed to find a better presenting example of this one.
PSA
has graded just two examples of this pose, with the numerical grade on this VG 3 (MK) the better of the two.
