Gus Alberts (incorrectly named on this card as Gus Albert) had the best season of his career in 1888 when he played 102 games at Shortstop and Third Base for the Cleveland Blues of the American Association. He has four different poses in the N172 set, each of them tough to find. This entry shows Gus Bending his left arm, with his right arm extended, as if he is in the middle of a throwing motion.
This card is verified Authentic by PSA due to evidence of a slight trim. The image is a little light in the top half of the canvas, with the contrast and text on the lower half appearing more strong. However, the scarcity of this example far outweighs any aesthetic issues of this highly sought-after issue, with PSA having graded just two examples of this pose.
