Visually-pleasing card featuring the Georgia Peach with his patented split grip, from the 1922 E121 American Caramel Series of 120 series.  Despite crediting Cobb in his new role as manager, the image makes no bones about the fact that Cobb remained primarily a hitter, as he would show the baseball world, batting .389 in a full season.  The following season he would eclipse .400 for the third and last time in his career, though his average would never dip below .323 for the remainder in his career.  Years later, Lefty O'Doul was asked how he thought Cobb would fare against modern pitching.  O'Doul replied that he felt Cobb would bat .260 or .270.  When pressed on why the Hall of Famer's average would be so low, O'Doul responded, "Well, you've got to understand, the man is 70 years old now."
