Game 1 of the 1953 World Series took place on September 29 at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx and NBC television cameras were there to broadcast the action. In the broadcast booth that night a 25-year-old Vin Scully would become the youngest man to broadcast a World Series game as the Yankees secured a 1-0 series lead. The very next day, when this image was captured, the Yankees started left-hander Ed Lopat (clearly visible on the mound in this image), against Preacher Roe of the Dodgers. Jim Gilliam grounded out to start the game for Brooklyn, followed by a triple from Pee Wee Reese. With Duke Snider batting in the shadows, and the infield in, the legendary Jackie Robinson knelt while awaiting his turn at bat. Capturing this moment, the offered Type 1 photograph provides a unique perspective from behind one of NBC's cameras as the day's action was delivered to televisions throughout the nation. A spectacular look at Yankee Stadium during the Fall Classic, this 7" x 9" photo presents wonderfully despite tack holes to the four corners. Stamping crediting the image to NBC has been applied on verso with what appears to be a file number for the negative. Includes full LOA from PSA/DNA confirming the photo's Type 1 status.
