Collection of six photos related to Commissioner of Baseball Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis' investigation into gambling beginning on Jan. 5, 1927. The investigation was prompted by "Black Sox" co-conspirators, first baseman Chick Gandil, and former infielder Swede Risberg, who had made accusations that the White Sox and Tigers conspired to fix games late in the 1917 season. Dozens of players from both teams were called as witnesses but no judgements were levied by Landis in the end. Includes:

1) Large format 8" x 10" photo of former infielder, Buck Weaver in his Sunday best during the hearings. A date stamp of Jan. 7, 1927 appears on reverse, and photo remains in excellent condition overall with any obvious wear relegated to bottom corners. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. 2) 8" x 10" photo depicting former 1917 Detroit Tigers and 1919 White Sox pitcher, "Big Bill" James, entering the hearings. Outstanding overall condition and virtually free of obvious imperfections. Paper caption affixed to verso dated Jan. 7, 1927. Guaranteed Type 1. 3) Chicago White Sox manager, Kid Gleason poses with Hall of Fame catcher, Ray Schalk during the proceedings. A few scattered pinholes with some wear to lower-right corner. A date stamp of Jan 11, 1927 appears on reverse along with related news clipping. 4) 7" x 9" photo depicting Swede Risberg exiting the courthouse.
