Future Washington Senators Hall of Famer, Walter Johnson, poses with his personal catcher, Muddy Ruel, in this original news service photo from International. Johnson and Ruel have been captured in late September of 1924 shortly before taking on and besting the New York Giants in the 1924 World Series – an affair that concluded in a classic 12-inning Game 7 at Griffith Stadium with Johnson on the mound. Photo exhibits wear relegated to the corners, including small creases and pinholes, with obvious areas of editorial masking removed to reveal the image below. A 1996 Baseball Magazine hologram has been affixed to verso along with large credit stamping from International surrounded by multiple handwritten pencil notations.
