Stunning 1914 glass magic lantern slide featuring an intimate portrait of Shoeless Joe Jackson. An impressively crisp and detailed image captured while the Naps trained at Athens, GA. Black paper border surrounding the 3.25" x 4" translucent slide remains fully intact with glass surface remaining quite clean for it's age, presenting the central image beautifully. Slide originates from the estate of former Cleveland Plain Dealer staff photographer Frank W. Smith, who traveled with the Cleveland Naps to their spring facilities for many years during the 1910's. One of close to sixty glass magic lantern slides offered in our spring auction from the original photographer's collection. All slides from this collection have been professionally imaged and winning bidders will receive both the slides and a one-of-a-kind 8" x 10" archival quality print with their shipment.
