Though third baseman Buck Weaver never accepted money from gamblers to help "fix" the 1919 World Series, he was certainly aware of the conspiracy and did not out his teammates to authorities. In the eyes of baseball commissioner Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis this was justification enough to ban Weaver from the game for life along with seven other "Black Sox" teammates. Tragically, Weaver would apply for reinstatement six times between 1922 and his death in 1956, with those attempts either rejected or ignored each time. The presented 8" x 10" photo of Buck Weaver remains free of obvious imperfections to the central image with typical gentle wear to edges and corners consistent with news service photos in storage for many decades. Verso displays Charles Conlon's handwritten identifier of Weaver at the top and his "Conlon Photo" signature below. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
