Despite his role as a core member of 1917 World Series champion Chicago White Sox, center fielder Oscar "Happy" Felsch is most remembered as one of eight players infamously dubbed the "Black Sox" for conspiring to throw the 1919 World Series. Though acquitted at pubic trail in 1921, Felsch and his co-conspirators were permanently banned from organized baseball for life by then-commissioner Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis. The offered 8" x 10" news service photo of Felsch hails from the mid-late 1910's and exhibits moderate wear to edges and corners with a pinhole at the lower-left corner.
