Harry Krause was arguably the best pitcher in baseball in 1909, leading the league in ERA and ERA+. The Athletics won the World Series in each of the next two seasons, making this T206 card the perfect document of that three year stretch for the southpaw. While the edges are sharp and the corners are sharper than the card's technical grade would indicate, the seemingly low number can be explained by the almost total absence of a top border. The Tolstoi back is in phenomenal shape, and other than the card's centering issue on the front, bordering on being miscut, it presents beautifully with bold, dark colors. SGC has only ever graded 5 total examples of this Tolstoi back version of the Krause, with only ONE receiving a higher grade than the GOOD 2 offered here.
