We have made the decision to break up an EXTRAORDINARY 1963 Topps set - the #4 Master Set on the PSA Set Registry. The 1963 set is a particularly difficult set to complete in high grade due to Topps' poor quality control in the era which resulted in considerable print defects. The large and colorful border at the bottom simultaneously lends a distinctive design element and a condition challenge, as they are extremely susceptible to chipping and wear.

The example offered here is card #245, Gil Hodges, graded NM-MT 8. 1963 was the final year of Hodges' Hall of Fame career, playing in only 11 games before hanging it up for good. The first baseman spent the first 16 years of his career with the Dodgers, but during his tenure with the club, the team moved from Brooklyn to Los Angeles. He came back to New York for the final two years of his career, ending with the Mets.

This card nice edges and great colors, with lots of shades of blue. From Gil's cap to his eyes to the bottom border, this card would make Picasso proud. Slight diamond cutting with centering just a shade south and west on the canvas. This card has tremendous eye appeal.

Only 16 examples graded by PSA have ever received a higher grade than the NM-MT 8 offered here.
