This example features pitcher Frank Owen wearing a dark blue uniform at the end of his pitching motion in front of a yellow, orange, and green background. Owen really stands out with the dark, bold colors of his jersey and cap, with the realistic action shot providing great interest to this image. The corners are impressively sharp for a card of this grade, yet the centering is slightly south and east on the canvas.

While the card retains tremendous eye appeal, a surface abrasion runs the width of the card's front, just over Owen's chin line. The larger reason for the technical grade is the condition of the back, which features a large, circular stain and some paper loss near the center top, indicative of a former life glued in a scrapbook. PSA has only ever graded 7 total examples of this Old Mill back version of the Owen, with only TWO receiving a higher grade than the GOOD 2 offered here.

Frank Malcolm Owen won 21 or more games each year from 1904 through 1906, throwing at least 27 complete games in each of the three seasons. He helped the "Hitless Wonders" Chicago White Sox beat the Chicago Cubs to win the 1906 World Series.
