The American Caramel E90-1 issue is sometimes referred to as the T206
of
caramel issues, and has been dubbed "The Kraken" in some quarters due
to the challenges of collecting the 120 subjects found within. The set
was issued with a
stick of caramel that, as one might imagine, led to condition issues
which plague the set. This colorful example was spared some of
the more direct
results of that, though a light stain is visible along the left and bottom edges. Snow is present, but the color loss at the top center of Collins' cap is consistent with the printing of the other examples of the Hall of Famer's card in this set.
The card is right of center, with corners exhibiting rounding consistent with its grade. Some ink and paper loss is present on the back, presumably due to being removed from a scrapbook. This crisp, vivid illustration of the sixth man in baseball history to record 3,000 career hits is set against a dark green background. A wonderful quality image of the second baseman widely regarded as the smartest player to ever play the game. Only 87 examples of this Collins card have ever been graded by SGC, which assigned this card a grade of GOOD 2.
