Though he only appeared in 120 career games, infielder Mike Gazella played for four pennant-winning New York Yankees teams from 1923-28, with three of those squads capturing World Series titles. Gazella is one of the more obscure members of the vaunted 1927 Yankees and as such his original news service photos remain scarce and desirable. Presented are two superb originals from the lens of Charles Martin Conlon, including an image of Gazella in full uniform along with a head-and-shoulders portrait pose. Surface of both photos remain free of obvious blemishes though the portrait photo displays varying degrees of wear to the corners. Verso of both display Conlon's personal credited stampings and his handwritten identifiers in pencil. Notations in modern ballpoint also appear on verso of portrait photo towards the very bottom. Each measures approx. 6.5" x 8.5".
