He put in six major league seasons, four in DC and two in Brooklyn but Fred Sington was better known for his prodigious output in the minor leagues, where he absolutely mashed before, during and after his big league stints. He's depicted on an attractive midgrade card here, graded EX 5 by PSA, with some foxing showing in a couple of spots. The autograph is inscribed "Best Regrds to Paul" (yes, a typo from his hand) and it looks like he had some trouble getting the blue ink to flow. PSA/DNA has therefore assigned a grade of NM 7 to his signature. The card originates from the Shibe Park collection of autographed cards, an original owner collection carefully collected by a teenage boy who, in 1939 and 1940, obtained many autographs from players arriving at the train station near Shibe Park, and continued for many years to obtain signatures in person and through the mail.
