The third of three collector-grade Connie Mack All-Stars in our second auction this Walter Johnson presents very well but clearly its components have separated from the cards at the spot where they were intended to be perforated and stood up. Still our consignor had meticulously preserved the pieces and stored the card in plastic where it could be presented as a whole truly exemplifying the saying "I"d rather have a hole in the card than a hole in the collection."Aside from the obvious condition flaw the card is in reasonable shape. Corners are worn but not overly so color remains bold and striking with exceptional image quality. For a set that often sells complete in the five-figure range despite having just 11 cards an affordable collector-grade alternative is often preferable. Very few auctions would present cards like this individually; high-quality cards in off-grade are often found in large lots that make purchase cost-prohibitive. The opportunity to acquire a single card of this nature does not present itself often and we are proud to offer this card in our second auction.
