Amos Alonzo Stagg played football as an end at Yale University and was selected to the first All-America Team in 1889. He also pitched on Yale’s men’s baseball team. Once his playing days were over, he served as a college coach in multiple sports, primarily football. In fact, he served as the head football coach at the International YMCA Training School, the University of Chicago, and the College of the Pacific, and compiled a career college football record of 314–199–35. Offered here is an official Yale vs. Amherst baseball scorecard from the late 1880s that included Stagg batting leadoff and pitching for the Bulldogs. In decent condition given its age, the scorecard has sustained a torn bottom right corner along with some additional wear, including a lower-right corner clip.
