Historically significant scorecard chronicling a game between the Troy Trojans and the hometown Boston Nationals team, marking just the third major league appearance of Hall of Famer Mickey Welch. Though the BaseballReference.com records indicate that day was a 13-7 victory for the home team, the game actually scored was a 5-4 Boston win, which was the score of the May 7 game.  The game is meticulously scored in pencil, the Boston team including Hall of Famer Jim O'Rourke, along with familiar names like Ezra Sutton, John Morrill, and Jack Burdock.  The Trojans lineup included Hall of Famers Roger Connor and Mickey Welch, while the remaining roster, as a point of note, included Hall of Famers Buck Ewing, Dan Brouthers and Tim Keefe, though none of those players factored into the game or are listed on the scorecard.  Welch and Connor, however, were both in their first major league seasons, this outing just Welch's third with the team.  It was also one of the first games for Connor, also in his first season. 

The scorecard measures 5 3/4" x 7 1/4" unfolded, and appears in excellent condition.  Some natural wear at the fold is expected, this example intact.  The game has been scored in pencil, extremely neat with a few notations here and there.  The reverse includes a complete 1880 league schedule, and a blank area on which some light but very flamboyant pencil writing has been added, reading "Boston May 7, 1810" followed by a name that appears to be "E K Koltun."  The names J. Burdock and S. Foley are also written in this area in a different hand, likely references to Boston second baseman Jack Burdock and utility man Curry Foley, both of whom played in the game.  

A truly exceptional document from one of the earliest games of two important Hall of Famers, remarkably well-preserved.
