Issued between 1886 and 1887 the scarce and desirable "KBats" are CDV-sized photographic cards mounted on heavy cardboard. While some have advertising printed on the reverse this particular card is of the blank-backed variety. The scarcity of KBats cards coupled with their desirability among advanced collectors means that they don't trade hands very often. Assembling a complete set is simply impossible, though there are collectors trying. As such even lower-grade examples routinely sell for thousands of dollars. Beyond those comments, though, is the fact that this is simply a beautiful well-composed card. Philadelphia second baseman Louis Bierbauer was just 21 years old, near the start of what would be an 18-year pro career when he posed for this photo.  An attractive card, it has been graded AUTHENTIC by SGC due to the trim at the left edge, just the second graded example of an N690 Bierbauer assessed by either grading company.
