On September 7, 1892 heavyweight James Corbett defeated John L. Sullivan by knockout in the 21st round to become the lineal World Heavyweight Champion. The presented 1890's Morrison studios cabinet photo of Corbett hails from this very period, as referenced below Corbett's image on this card. Card presents handsomely with mild toning throughout and several areas of staining along the edges and on the reverse. An unobtrusive smudge also appears to left of Corbett's head in the image. An attractive and historic card related to the infancy of the heavyweight division and the lineal champions that followed.
