Wid Matthews was a center fielder with the Athletics and Senators from 1923-25 but was best known as an executive and scout for Branch Rickey helping build the Cardinals 1940s teams and the Dodgers teams of the 1950s. Mathews eventually became the General Manager of the Cubs in 1950. This card signed and dated "1926" by Mathews is in G-VG condition due largely to corner and edge wear with some moderate toning to the reverse. Still period signatures from less common players are difficult to find and this is an excellent example.
