In 1941 Gum Inc.'s Play Ball set offered full color to the young collectors of the day, while sacrificing the sharp photographs utilized in 1939 and 1940. Thankfully, the stable of artists that created this set had talented hands and the end result was a brightly colored set of 72 subjects. Unsurprisingly, the key player was Joe DiMaggio and he's found here paired with Johnny Cooney as they share swapped (and upside-down) backs in a marvelous miscut match! Each card is graded SGC 1.5 and while they have their obvious flaws, it's the forever-pairing that makes this a special lot.
