Identified by writing (in ink) on the reverse as the Boston Bloomers, the photo, taken by a studio in Ann Arbor, Michigan portrays the Chicago Black Stocking Nine.  The team featured women ballplayers and Sylvester Wilson (sporting Dundreary whiskers), who became an infamous figure when convicted of abducting a fifteen year old girl named Libbie Sutherland, who may be depicted here.  Wilson's exploits and trial were sensationalized in newspapers and covered in the pages of The Sporting Life, captivating the nation, and Wilson got five years in Sing-Sing for this crime in 1892.

The image has some soiling near the top and a little foxing and scuffing can be seen, none of which really intrudes on the subjects.  The mount has heavier foxing on the front and in addition to the team ID, "Rotogravure Section" in pencil is also written on the back, which is oddly ornate.
