Particularly sought after by vintage photo collectors, contact prints offer the highest possible image quality as the original negatives were placed in direct contact with the photographic paper for development. Offered are two such examples featuring images of Red Sox outfielders Wally Shaner and Baby Doll Jacobson from the lens of Charles Martin Conlon himself. Though the prints measure 4.25" x 6.5" overall, the central images consist of a 4" x 5" portraits exactly as Conlon saw them through the lens of his camera, with no cropping or enlargement. Both prints display Conlon's notations applied by hand to the glass plate negatives at the top. Each exhibits a touch of common handling wear while sharpness of the images and tonal clarity remain understandably superb. Handwritten identifiers of both men appear on verso of their respective examples along with Charles Conlon's personal credit stamping. Authenticated and encapsulated as a Type 1 photos by PSA/DNA.
