While Fred McMullin was implicated in the scheme to "fix" the 1919 World Series, details as to his exact involvement remain murky. By some accounts McMullin was an instigator of the "fix" and by others he simply overhead the details and wanted in. Either way, vintage original photos of the Chicago "Black Sox" utility man are scarce and highly desirable, especially those in large format such as this. Intriguingly, this image has been captured by Japanese American photographer, Jun Fujita at Comiskey Park and bears his personal credit stamping on verso. An NEA credit stamp is also present and dated Oct. 29, 1919. Measures a borderless 6.5" x 10" and displays impressively well. Easily worthy of inclusion in the most advanced Black Sox collector's trove. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
