Relegated to poor teams over his entire career, Frank Baumholtz was also an excellent basketball player who was born about fifteen years too early to capitalize on his hoops prowess. He was also a bona fide war hero, commanding ships as a Naval Officer at Iwo Jima and Okinawa near the end of World War 2. His horizontal 1952 Topps card looks a bit crazed due to the oddly tinted background and off-kilter photo and is not numerically graded. A stain can be seen in the upper right corner here, while his signature in blue Sharpie is a beauty, PSA/DNA MINT 9 in grade.
