His name was William Van Winkle Wolf so he doesn't seem like he needed a nickname but his Louisville Colonels teammate Pete Browning gave him one anyway after he developed a case of butterfingers following a pregame repast of chicken one fateful day. SGC 3 in grade, this N172 507-1 pose is also known as "Bat At Ready-Louisville Visible" and depicts the holder of many American Association all-time records. The card is cut at a small angle, with corners fairly rounded and the upper right one turned over. The image is pretty nicely contrasted, with a small bit of paper loss on Wolf's left leg. There's some light wrinkling visible on the reverse.
