In 1912, the Boston Red Sox, playing in the recently opened Fenway Park, won their second World Series title by beating the New York Giants four games to three in an unusual “eight-game” battle. This was one of only four World Series to go to eight games, and the only best-of-seven Series to do so. This Fall Classic was extended to eight games due to Game 2 being called on account of darkness. This lot features a very scarce, four-sided 1912 World Series Souvenir Fenway Park Scorecard. The 4.5" wide by 9" tall pamphlet style scorecard reads “Fenway Park Boston” with the dates “Oct. 9-11-14 1912” showing and the spelling of “RED ‘SOXS’ = GIANTS” on the front. The inner two pages display the teams’ opening day lineups with Boston’s Smoky Joe Wood going up against New York’s Jeff Tesreau. This souvenir scorecard was printed by the Publisher’s Printing Corp. of Boston, is in delicate condition with the back cover hanging on, and includes two hole punches on its left border.
